“Alice, what are you and Dane going to do today?” “Well, after we crash your place to meet Tina, we were thinking we might go to the mall or something. Maybe you and Tina could come along.” “I doubt Tee and I are going to be up for…………&hell ip;” Bette’s mouth dropped as she saw the stunning blonde come through the door. “Bette? Are you ok?” Alice quizzed her friend that had suddenly stopped, mid sentence. Bette stood awestruck. The woman before her was absolutely beautiful. She knew it was Tina, even from the distance. **************************************** **** Bette couldn’t take her eyes off Tina. She couldn’t hear Alice asking her if she was ok. She was not aware of anything other than the woman standing across the room, looking for her. Suddenly a baby crying to her right took her attention momentarily. As Bette looked toward the crying baby, she saw her own image in the window pane. Bette’s jaw dropped even further at the weary and tired image that reflected back at her. “ALICE, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU GIVE ME?” Alice was stunned at Bette’s sudden outburst. “What are you talking about?” “This cover up. I look like I didn’t sleep all night.” “Bette, you didn’t sleep all night! I never told you it works miracles.” “SO WHAT! Cover up is for that ALICE! This shit doesn’t work. Now what the hell am I going to do?” “go to a store there. They sell make up at the airport.” “Too late Alice. She just came out of customs.” Alice hears the dial tone. “Bette? Bette?” **************************************** Tina looked around anxiously as the crowd flowed past her. Her eyes were searching for Bette, who was staring, stunned. God there are so many people around. How am I ever going to find Bette? We never planned an exact place to meet, and I was not planning on so many people being here. Tina’s eyes continued to scan the room. Finally her eyes connected with Bette’s. She saw her standing across the room with her mouth open, staring right back at her. Tina started to walk toward Bette, who was still staring with her mouth wide open, standing in the one spot. Once Bette realized that Tina had made a movement, she started heading in her direction. She is so beautiful. I wonder if she has seen me yet. I better go to her before I lose sight of her. A lost person in this airport is not a good thing. Bette walked toward Tina. A large group of people rushed by Tina, causing her to lose sight of Bette. She turned around frantically but did not set her eyes on the brunette. “Shit!” Tina exclaimed. Tina turned again, searching. Her eyes darted from face to face. None of which she recognized. She turned sharply and bumped into someone. “I am sorry.” Tina put her head down, embarrassed to have bumped into someone. “You look like you could use some help” That familiar voice caused Tina’s head to lift at a record speed. Her heart rate increased as she looked at Bette, staring right back at her. “God you are beautiful” Bette said, moving a stray piece of hair from Tina’s eyes. “Bette! I am so glad to see you. I have waited so long…..” Tina threw her arms around Bette’s neck and hugged her tight. Bette returned the embrace, holding Tina tightly against her body. Tina could not have imagined the feelings she felt the minute her body touched Bette’s. She had gooseflesh and pins and needles crawling all over her body, as if it was an overload to the senses. Bette didn’t know how long she had been holding Tina. She didn’t want to let go now that she had her in her arms, but she figured Tina would be tired and needing to rest. “You must be tired Tee. Why don’t we get your things and head home?” “Ok. I am tired. I couldn’t sleep on the flight.” Tina said, releasing her grip from Bette’s neck. “I don’t know if I could rest now either, but at least we can be together.” Bette looked down at Tina’s luggage. “Pink?” “I wanted to be able to see it easier when it came off the plane. And, I could tell if someone tried to take it when it wasn’t theirs.” “You couldn’t pay someone to steal it. They are so…… pink” Bette smirked as she lifted the first suitcase onto the cart. She looked back at Tina. How did I get so lucky? Bette took the second suitcase and put it beside the first one on the cart. Tina was leaning on the arm of the cart, getting ready to push it. |
