Ya Never Know… pt. 5 0; “How can you eat all of that?” Ray asked Neela, digging into a plate of noodles. Neela spun the center table, and Robbi grabbed a chicken wing as it moved away. Robbi had ordered just about everything on the menu, claiming she didn’t remember half of the dishes. 0; “It is easy Ray, I’m famished,” Neela retorted. “I’m a growing girl and need my nourishment, and you certainly never buy any groceries.” The easy conversation had been going on for a better part of an hour, Ray having told them about his younger years as a Rock God wanna be. Neela had told stories of her younger siblings. Abby had told a cute story about her brother getting lost as a kid, in of all places, their back yard. 0; “Abby, I noticed something, how come you never had an adult beverage tonight?” Robbi asked, putting a piece of chicken into her mouth. Abby shifted uncomfortably in her chair, as Neela sipped her cold beer and Ray let his eyebrows rise. 0; Abby stated in a calm voice, “I’m an alcoholic. My mother is a mental case and so is my brother. I have a happy family of degenerates,” and Robbi nodded knowingly. 0; “I figured as much, so, no Château Margaux 1995 for you.” Robbi sipped the cold soda in her hand and said, “Neela?” 0; “Yes?” Neela replied, with her dark eyes wide, and Ray waited knowing something was coming. Robbie had a way about her that was disarming. She had a way of making you just be honest, and Ray liked that about her. 0; “Could you kindly tell me why Dr. Lockhart invited Dr. Weaver tonight?” 0; Ray raised his glass to Robbi and toasted her. “To the woman with balls.” Ray then paused, “Even if they are attached to a strap on…” Abby groaned, her match making definitely needed work. More stealth was obviously needed; maybe locking them in a closet together was a better idea. Then a vision of being locked in the closet with Ro shifted into her mind, however, instead of Kerry being there, she was, and she wasn’t sure if she liked it. 0; “To the man with answers, do tell, what Abby was up too?” Robbi said in a mimicking voice, matching Neela’s accent perfectly. 0; Ray leaned over and said, “She was trying to set you up with Weaver. 0; “RAY.” Neela and Abby both said loudly. 0; Robbi slammed her beer down and said, “I fucking knew it.” Robbi was laughing hard, her dark blonde hair in her eyes, as she gently nudged Abby’s shoulder; once again causing Abby to blush hotly. “It’s okay. She’s just not my type, however,” Robbi said reassuringly. 0; “You need some gorgeous looking babe, with huge knockers and…” Ray began, and Neela reared back and hit him hard. “Ouch!” he yelped, rubbing his barely wounded arm. 0; “Thanks for the thought, but I’m really not looking for, that, Ray. I’m not a, big knockers, sort of gal. I’m not even looking to tell the truth,” admitted Robbi. 0; “You’re not?” Abby asked in surprise, Neela echoing the sentient. 0; “Really? I thought all women…” Neela started, and then thought, she was the wrong person to be talking about relationships of any kind, especially homosexual ones. 0; “Guys, it took three weeks to get my death certificate rescinded, another two weeks to get my brother’s estate back into my hands, my parents house, that had just been put on the auction block, back into my name, and only yesterday did I get up the nerve to finally get into an elevator,” said Robbi. She was just getting her life in order; throwing a complicated relationship into the mix, most certainly, was not on the menu. 0; “Why the elevator?” Ray asked quietly. 0; “Because, when you sleep in box, the size of a coffin, for a few years, you don’t really like small spaces,” Robbi admitted. Abby looked away from her, unable to meet her eyes. It was heart breaking to hear things like that from a friend. Abby now felt like an idiot, for trying to play matchmaker, as the conversation changed to something else. 0; Two hours later, a drunk Ray and Robbi, stumbled out of the restaurant, arm in arm. They’d been flirting and being playful as the evening continued; leaving Abby in a soft simmer at Robbi’s attempt to flirt with Ray, when Neela had gone to the bathroom. 0; “She can’t drive home,” Abby said to Neela.. |
