ER 1.04

       0;     “She said that to Sam?”  Kerry asked, and Neela nodded, her dark eyes sincere.  Robbi was kicking Pratt’s ass at the pool table.  She had grown solemn and was drinking much more heavily, since Sam had stormed out into the night, with Abby hot on her heels.  Abby had come back moments later, with her hands in the air, revealing that she hadn’t found Samantha anywhere.

       0;     “Yes, and the scary part is, I think that Sam was actually listening to her,” Neela said, taking the shot of tequila and downing it.  Kerry took her glass of wine and sipped it. She thought Sam was a wonderful nurse, who had a child young, and simply wanted to live.  She just needed to understand that Kovac was her way of living, if she’d accept that.

       0;     “She’s got balls,” Abby said, “because we know Sam, and Sam doesn’t take shit from anyone.”  The cozy couple, Jing-Mei and Pratt, had rejoined the group and Pratt chuckled at the comment about Sam.  Robbi was off getting more drinks, and Pratt sat down after having lost to her.

       0;     “She’s not dating anyone?” Jing-Mei asked about Robbi, and Abby blushed.  Neela gave her a sideways look.

       0;     “No,” Abby said very softly, after clearing her throat.

       0;     “Not for the lack of Abby trying.  She’s been searching around the dining hall for prospects for our female Dr. Romano,” Neela said, and Ray moved closer to her.

       0;     “Oh yeah, and besides Dr. Weaver, who else is a lesbian at the hospital?”  Ray asked, with a smirk.

       0;     “What?” The whole table said in very loud voices, Abby put her head on the table, wanting to hide.  They were all ganging up against her and all she wanted was for someone to be happy.

       0;     “What’s going on?” Ro asked, but no one said a word.  Ro sat down, narrowed her eyes, and settled them on Abby, who looked up and smiled.  “Uh huh,” Robbi said.  Greg began to tell them about the newest Attending, who had fooled them into thinking he was a patient days earlier, trying to take the focus off of Abby, but Ro kept her steady grey eyes on her.

       0;

       0;     “He was an ass for doing that,” Robbi offered, officially having crossed into the realm of being drunk.  “Ray dance with me…” she said, and he begged off.

       0;     “I can’t dance,” he laughed, and Pratt winked to Jing-Mei.  Ro knew he could dance, she’d seen him, but he didn’t know that.

       0;     “I’ll dance you with Ro,” Pratt offered his hand, and she took it, wiggling her eyebrows, as Greg pulled her onto the small dance floor.

       0;     “I thought you said she was gay?”  Jing-Mei shot at Ray, and he merely shrugged.

       0;     “Double swinger…”  Abby said softly, finally realizing what it really meant.  The table gave her an odd look, “The first time I met Ro, she called me that.”  Abby felt the blush on her cheeks.  “The night before she came to work, at that club you brought us to Ray…  Double swinger…”

       0;     “A bisexual,” Kerry Weaver offered, and everyone’s eyes shifted to her, “I am gay you know?  I do know some of the language,” causing them all to laugh.  Abby looked up and saw Greg and Ro dancing easily, as if she fit right in his arms.  Her hands were around his neck, and his hands were at her hips, guiding her to the beat.  He was looking down at her and they were saying something to each other.  Jing-Mei was fuming at the sensual dancing.  A heavy bass’ed song called, ‘Bang To The Beat Of The Drum,’ took over and Greg and Ro were laughing and dancing.

       0;     “You’re jealous,” Neela said, and Abby gave her a puzzled look, realizing that she had directed her statement to Jing-Mei, and not her.

       0;     “I am not,” the Asian beauty said, and then she added after a few long minutes, “should I be?”  Everyone began to reassure her and she seemed a tad less jealous for a moment.  Christian Milian’s ‘Get Loose’ came on and Abby stood, grabbing her hand and said, “…come on, let’s go cut in.”

       0;     Jing-Mei saying nothing, followed her onto the small dance floor.  Abby’s was waving her hands up the air, as she slid between Pratt and Ro; she looked up and over her shoulder at Pratt whose face was surprised, “mind if I steal your partner?”  Pratt felt Jing-Mei next to him and said, “Not at all.”
